FAQ’s

  • 1. What architectural design services does Rootline Studios offer?

We specialize in ADU design in California, architectural drafting services, CAD drawing services and as-built drawings. Whether you’re building an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), remodeling a home, or starting new construction, we provide accurate plans and guidance from concept to approval.

  • 2. Do you only design ADUs?

No — although we are known for our California ADU architectural plans, we also create floor plans, remodel designs, home additions, pool designs, furniture shop drawings, metal laser and CNC drawings, and small commercial building TI’s (Tentative Improvements).

  • 3. How much does it cost to design an ADU?

ADU design costs depend on size, complexity, and city building code requirements. We offer free consultations to provide a detailed quote for your ADU floor plan and permit drawings.

  • 4. Can Rootline Studios handle the building permit process?

Yes. We prepare and submit permit-ready drawings to your local Planning and Building Departments, manage plan check corrections, and coordinate with engineers until your ADU plans or remodel plans are approved.

  • 5. What is the difference between “as-built drawings” and “construction drawings”?

As-built drawings: Accurate documentation of your property’s existing conditions.

Construction drawings: Detailed architectural plans used for building, remodeling, or obtaining permits.

  • 6. Do you provide 3D architectural renderings?

Yes, we offer 3D architectural renderings and visualizations so you can see your ADU, home remodel, or new construction project before building.

  • 7. How long does it take to get ADU plans approved in California?

Approval timelines vary by city and county. On average, ADU permits take 3–6 months from the first submission to final approval, depending on plan check response times.

  • 8. Can Rootline Studios work with clients outside LA area/California?

Our CAD drafting and architectural design services can be provided remotely for some projects. For California-based projects, we handle the entire design and permit process in person.

  • 9. Will I need engineering drawings for my project?

Many ADU and home remodel projects require engineering for structural, mechanical, or electrical components. We work with licensed engineers and coordinate all requirements with your city’s Building Department.
